Die Familie Wolff<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Die Familie Wolff ist eine Nackenheimer Familie j\u00fcdischen Glaubens, bestehend aus dem Ehepaar Wolff: Heinrich (25.03.1878 \u2013 Todesdatum unbekannt, 1942 Deportation nach Piaski) und Selma (04.04.1888 &#8211; Todesdatum unbekannt, 1942 Deportation nach Piaski), und deren S\u00f6hnen Helmut (17.09.1915 \u2013 07.06.1999) und Herbert Wolff (14.02.1914 &#8211; 10.11.2003). Sie wohnten bis 1937 in der Mainzer Stra\u00dfe 15 in Nackenheim und zogen dann aufgrund  <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nackenheim-im-nationalsozialismus.de\/?page_id=713\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"713\" target=\"_blank\">antisemitischer Verfolgungen<\/a> nach Mainz. Heinrich Wolff war aktives Mitglied in der j\u00fcdischen Gemeinde Nackenheim\/Bodenheim und Mitglied in verschiedenen Sportvereinen. Den beiden S\u00f6hnen gelang es, so wie weiteren Bekannten und Familienangeh\u00f6rigen der Wolffs, noch vor 1939 in die USA zu fl\u00fcchten. Das Ehepaar Wolff scheiterte jedoch mit ihren Ausreiseantr\u00e4gen. Ein weiteres Problem war, dass ihre Wohnsituation mit Beginn des Zweiten Weltkrieges durch immer h\u00e4rtere Ma\u00dfnahmen der nationalsozialistischen Regierung gegen die j\u00fcdische Bev\u00f6lkerung erschwert wurde. Die Briefe von Heinrich und Selma Wolff aus Mainz an ihre S\u00f6hne Herbert und Helmut in New York 1937 &#8211; 1941, Oppenheim: N\u00fcnnerich-Asmus-Verlag 2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Viele Familienangeh\u00f6rige und Bekannte der Familie Wolff wanderten von Deutschland unter anderem nach Afrika, in die USA, nach Kuba und nach England aus. F\u00fcr das Ehepaar Wolff gab es jedoch zeitnah keine Perspektive auszureisen, da es aufgrund ihrer hohen Wartenummer wahrscheinlich erst im Jahre 1945 m\u00f6glich geworden w\u00e4re, das Land zu verlassen. Deshalb baten sie ihre S\u00f6hne in den USA um Hilfe, die Ausreise aus dem Ausland m\u00f6glich zu machen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein anderes Problem f\u00fcr das Ehepaar Wolff war, dass ihnen die Wohnsituation durch die nationalsozialistische Regierung erschwert wurde. Das Haus in Mainz, in dem die Familie Wolff bisher wohnte, wurde verkauft und Heinrich und Selma mussten wahrscheinlich ausziehen, weil sie auf Grund ihres J\u00fcdischseins nur noch in \u201enichtarischen\u201c H\u00e4usern wohnen durften. Deswegen wurde es schwierig f\u00fcr sie, eine neue Wohnung zu finden, da \u201enichtarische\u201c H\u00e4user durch die vielen Auswanderungen zum Gro\u00dfteil alle zwangsenteignet wurden oder zu \u201eSchleuderpreisen\u201c verkauft, \u201earisiert\u201c wurden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Ehepaar Wolff hoffte, dass es bald aus Deutschland auswandern k\u00f6nne, um zu ihren beiden S\u00f6hnen zu kommen, deswegen arbeitete Heinrich Wolff hart daran, dass es f\u00fcr ihn und seine Frau Selma m\u00f6glich werden w\u00fcrde, nach Lissabon auszureisen. Daf\u00fcr beantragte das Ehepaar Wolff Reisep\u00e4sse und versuchte, Schiffspl\u00e4tze zu reservieren. Da das Ehepaar Wolff es bis 1942 nicht schaffen konnte, das Deutsche Reich rechtzeitig zu verlassen wurden sie 1942 aus Mainz in das Ghetto nach Piaski in Polen deportiert und sp\u00e4ter ermordet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"iii-briefe-der-familie-wolff-an-ihre-sohne-aus-den-jahren-1939-und-1941-im-vergleich\"><strong>III. Die Briefe von Heinrich und Selma Wolff aus Mainz an ihre S\u00f6hne Herbert und Helmut in New York 1937 &#8211; 1941, Oppenheim: N\u00fcnnerich-Asmus-Verlag 2021).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Man merkt, dass der Brief aus dem Jahr 1941 im Gegensatz zu den vorherigen Briefen sehr kurz gefasst ist und nur die wichtigsten Dinge geschrieben wurden. Herr Wolff schreibt, dass er und Frau Wolff die Ausreise aus Deutschland planen. Deshalb korrespondierten sie mit Cook Berlin, welche die \u00dcberfahrt f\u00fcr sie organisieren sollten. Als gro\u00dfes Problem nannte er, dass die Passage der \u00dcberfahrt derzeit sehr \u00fcberf\u00fcllt sei, da viele Menschen nach Amerika auswandern wollen. Dies liegt daran, dass viele L\u00e4nder zwischen 1933 und 1942 eine Fl\u00fcchtlingskrise durch die systematische Judenverfolgung in Deutschland erlitten, weswegen viele L\u00e4nder, beispielsweise Gro\u00dfbritannien und die Niederlande, begrenzte Aufnahmezahlen f\u00fcr Fl\u00fcchtlinge festlegten. Dies machte es f\u00fcr j\u00fcdische Familien wie die Familie Wolff schwieriger, in andere L\u00e4nder zu fl\u00fcchten. Zudem brauchte man, wenn man in die USA emigrieren wollte, ein Visum, welches durch die begrenzten Aufnahmen schwierig zu beschaffen war. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Herr Wolff schrieb au\u00dferdem, dass er und seine Frau Reisep\u00e4sse beantragt h\u00e4tten und dass er deshalb zuversichtlich f\u00fcr das Gelingen der Ausreise war. Ein Pass war eine Grundvoraussetzung f\u00fcr das Einreisen. Jedoch werden die Familie Wolff die P\u00e4sse, die sie beantragt hatten, wahrscheinlich nicht bekommen haben, da J\u00fcdinnen und Juden im Deutschen Reich bis zum 25. November 1941 die deutsche Reichszugeh\u00f6rigkeit aberkannt wurde, um die Ausreise zu verhindern. Zudem schloss die USA ihre diplomatischen Vertretungen in Europa, sodass die Ausreise von da an nur noch f\u00fcr die Menschen m\u00f6glich war, die ein amerikanisches Konsulat in den nicht besetzten Teilen Europas erreichen konnten, was die Emigration weiter erschwerte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auch f\u00e4llt auf, dass der Brief aus dem Jahr 1941 im Vergleich zu den zuvor verfassten Briefen eine gr\u00f6\u00dfere Zahl an nicht verbesserten Rechtschreibfehlern enth\u00e4lt, k\u00fcrzer ist und sich auch verh\u00e4ltnism\u00e4\u00dfig beschwerlich lesen l\u00e4sst. Der Hauptgrund daf\u00fcr sind die umst\u00e4ndlich formulierten S\u00e4tze, die in manchen F\u00e4llen auch wenig aufgehen. Rein spekulativ k\u00f6nnte man vermuten, dass f\u00fcr all dies die prek\u00e4re Lage der Eltern verantwortlich ist und sie deshalb andere Sachen (und Sorgen) im Kopf haben, als einen grammatikalisch richtigen Brief an ihre S\u00f6hne zu schreiben. Auch k\u00f6nnte es daran liegen, dass die Wolffs erst vor kurzem umziehen mussten und m\u00f6glicher Weise keine Schreibmaschine mitnehmen konnten und deshalb eine andere verwendet haben, bei der es zu mehr Tippfehlern kam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Insgesamt kann man sagen, dass Heinrich Wolff in seinem Brief versucht hat, die Ausreise als ein Unterfangen darzustellen, was gelingen wird. Er besch\u00f6nigt oder umschreibt Vieles, damit die S\u00f6hne sich keine Sorgen machten und wahrscheinlich auch, damit sie selbst die Hoffnung nicht verlieren.
